Over the past three years, eighth grade students from the Hopewell Valley Regional School District's Timberlane Middle School worked with the Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum and the Witness Stones Project to memorialize three enslaved people from Central New Jersey: Friday Truehart, Frost Blackwell, and a woman named Nance. This exhibition of student artwork reflects on these individuals’ lives, history and humanity.

Sponsored by the Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum.
The Witness Stones Project is an organization committed to honoring the humanity of the enslaved people who built our communities.
